Main Street America
Partnering with Main Street America and Illinois Main Street, we're revitalizing our downtown through a framework of historic preservation and economic growth, using the proven Four-Point Approach to build a thriving community.
We are proud members of the Main Street America organization, a program of the National Main Street Center, Inc., and an affiliate of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. This partnership provides us with access to a proven framework for community revitalization, designed to achieve our local economic goals through the thoughtful preservation of our historic assets and the implementation of sound business practices.
The Main Street Approach: Guiding Our Revitalization
We utilize the Main Street Four-Point Approach™ as the foundation for our revitalization efforts. This structured methodology, guided by eight core principles, ensures a comprehensive and effective approach to our work.
The Four-Point Approach: Our Core Areas of Focus ¹
Economic Vitality focuses on capital, incentives, and other economic and financial tools to assist new and existing businesses, catalyze property development, and create a supportive environment for entrepreneurs and innovators that drive local economies.
Design supports a community’s transformation by enhancing the physical and visual assets that set the commercial district apart.
Promotion positions the downtown or commercial district as the center of the community and hub of economic activity, while creating a positive image that showcases a community’s unique characteristics.
Organization involves creating a strong foundation for a sustainable revitalization effort, including cultivating partnerships, community involvement, and resources for the district.
By working within the Main Street America framework, we are dedicated to creating a thriving and vibrant community for all.
